I have bought five plants, including the boronia pinnata below, to grow them in the balcony.

A state of emergency has not been declared yet in Japan, but I believe it will in several days under mounting pressure from doctors, nurses, experts, local governments and the public. Now it's time for the Japanese government, which cannot make any decisions without external pressure, to do so.
It's never been clearer that the Japanese government avoids responsibility, i.e., does not fulfill its duties as the administration, for example:
- It still has not performed a sufficient number of coronavirus tests.
- It still has not made necessary medical arrangements to allow coronavirus patients to be treated based on the severity of symptoms. (Currently, those with no symptoms must be hospitalized.)
- It still has not clarified the conditions for cash payments for those who have lost jobs or income.
- It still has not provided the details of any other coronavirus compensation.
- And as I said in the beginning, it's been avoiding making the decision to issue a state of emergency.
However, the Japanese government can be very quick to cover up its wrongdoings or gloss over its failures. For example:
- It forced bureaucrats to tamper with a land sale scandal related public records to protect Prime Minister Abe and his wife.
- It illegally extended the tenure of chief prosecutor at the Tokyo High Public Prosecutors Office, who is close to the prime minister's office.
- It distributed two cotton face masks to each household, hoping that the public would forget about the promise it made in February that in March 600 million face masks would be available.
I have been against the Abe administration under which power is centralized in the hands of prime minister, and now I am so scared that I am witnessing what I have been afraid of, i.e., a completely dysfunctional government, in such a way that people, including myself and my family, may die...
I am angry at Prime Minister Abe, his wife, who stupidly contributed to the spread of the virus until recently, and his administration, but among others, Abe supporters, who should have been able to foresee the current situation had they not avoided facing up to the reality.

That anger made me buy the boronia pinnata and other plants. I needed something to calm me down.
Now, I stay at home, reading, writing, cooking, and watching these pretty flowers, realizing how blessed I am to still be able to live like that...

緊急事態宣言に備えて植木を買いました。そのうちの一つがボロニアピナータです。ピンクのちっちゃい花が可憐です。
最近、ニュースを見ていると、政府への怒りがこみあげます。いや、怒りを通り越して言葉も出ません。彼らの判断は事実分析や専門家の助言に基づいているのでしょうか。
怒りを鎮め、自分を落ち着かせるためにボロニアピナータを買いました。家で見ていると、今、自分が生きていることへの有難さを感じます。この花をこのまま無事に育てていけるよう祈るばかりです。
