Is New Japanese Prime Minister Abe's Ex-"Wife"? 菅は安倍の「女房」?

Japanese follows English. 英語の後に日本語が続きます。

If you want to know why Columbo, read through this post!
なぜコロンボ?

If you like, or are interested in, Japan, you may know that Yoshihide Suga was elected as the new Japanese prime minister a few days ago, but do you know that Suga was the "wife" of Shinzo Abe, the former prime minister?

Of course, Suga was not Abe's real wife but was the chief cabinet secretary or "nyoubou" or "wife" of prime minister under the Abe administration.

The chief cabinet secretary is equivalent to the US White House chief of staff, and both Japanese chief cabinet secretary and US White House chief of staff support the leader of each country, but why called "wife" only in Japan?

The biggest problem is that nobody seems not to notice that this is discriminatory. A reporter, who he himself considers "liberal," called Suga "Abe's wife" in a "liberal" news program... Or should we be happy because this is women's empowerment, promotion of a "wife," generally female, to the top of the country?

By the way, Japanese has the following ways of calling "wife" and "husband":

Wife Husband Remarks
Tsuma or sai Otto - Your spouse
- Relatively neutral
Yome Muko - Your spouse
- Relatively neutral
- Meaning also your daughter/son-in-law
Okusama or okusan Dannasama or dannasan - The spouse of another
- With a little respect
Nyoubou Teishu - Your spouse or the spouse of someone close to you
Kanai Shujin - Your spouse when speaking to someone not close to you
Kamisan ??? - Your wife or the wife of someone close to you
- Relatively casual

Columbo often mentioned his wife in a long-running television series "Columbo (1968–2003)," currently on air again in Japan, and his famous line "My wife....." is translated into "Uchino (my) 'kamisan'" in the Japanese dubbed version. My dad calls my mom "My enemy"🤣...
