Netsuke "Catnap" 根付「うたたね」

Japanese follows English. 英語の後に日本語が続きます。

Are you sleepy? Maybe that's because it's spring. If you're sleepy only when working, "Giddy Up!"

"Catnap" by Gyokusen Suzuki, ivory

This 3 cm tall sculpture is a netsuke "Catnap" carved by Gyokusen Suzuki from ivory, on show in Tokyo National Museum

A netsuke is a small carved ornament, especially of ivory or wood, worn as part of Japanese traditional dress as a toggle by which an article may be attached to the sash of a kimono. (Source: Lexico)

It was the first Saturday after the state of emergency had been lifted in Japan. But, as usual, few people were there, allowing me to enjoy the tranquil and serene atmosphere of the museum, making me sleepy...😪
