Camellia Sasanqua (Sasanqua Camellia) 山茶花（サザンカ）

These are Camellia sasanqua or more commonly sasanqua camellia in my neighborhood. A week ago, I wrote about white and pink marble sasanqua. The camellia season has come.

Sasanqua camellia flowers resemble those of Japanese camellia, but their blooming season and fruits are completely different. Sasanqua camellia starts to flower earlier, i.e., from October, and the fruits are hairy while Japanese camellia starting to flower from December and the fruits being bigger with no hair. サザンカです。1週間ほど前に白とピンクのグラデーションの山茶花について書きました。山茶花の季節です。

以前はツバキの花と見分けがつきませんでしたが、山茶花は秋から花を付けるのに対し、椿は遅く、果実も全く違います。果実の違いにご興味ある方はこちらの記事をどうぞ！
