Stewartia Peudocamellia (Japanese Stewartia) 夏椿（ナツツバキ）

These are fruits of Stewartia pseudocamellia, also known as Japanese stewartia. The tree is called "summer camellia" because it produces flowers which look like camellia in summer. You can see the resemblance in its English scientific name "Stewartia pseudocamellia," too.

夏椿（ナツツバキ）です。夏に椿に似た花を付けるのでこの名が付いたそうです。学名（Stewartia peudocamellia）の peudocamellia も「pseudo（本物ではない）camellia（ツバキ）」という意味です。
