I've seen the flowers many times, but the fruits for the first time. This is a fruit of the lilytree or Yulan magnolia (Magnolia denudata). I googled to find out if it's edible, but couldn't find any reliable information. It should be safer not to try.

花は何度も見たことがあったのですが実は初めて。白木蓮（ハクモクレン）の実です。食べられるかググったのですが情報があまりない。まっ、食べない方がよさそうですね。
