Chimonanthus Praecox (Wintersweet) in Tokyo 上野牡丹園の蝋梅

This is chimonanthus praecox or wintersweet at Ueno Peony Garden in Tokyo.

I went to the garden to see peonies and enjoyed more than 20 types of them. But that was not it. The garden has other flowers, including such beautiful wintersweet.  

Surrounded by mostly pink and red peonies, these yellow wintersweet flowers were conspicuous, creating a stark contrast against the blue sky. One thing I regret is that I couldn't smell it. Visitors are required to wear masks. 

The Japanese government has finally decided to declare a state of emergency on January 7, and the state of emergency is said to continue for at least a month. I need to find something else in my neighborhood to cheer me up....

上野東照宮牡丹園の蝋梅です。青空に映える黄色がとてもきれいです。今年は20種類以上の牡丹を鑑賞したのですが、その多くはピンク系なので、蝋梅の黄色が目立ちます。惜しむらくは香りを楽しめなかったこと。マスク着用が義務付けられていました。

1月7日にはまた緊急事態宣言が出され、少なくとも1カ月以上続くと言われています。その間、別のきれいなものを探さなくてはなりません｡｡｡
