Lycoris Radiata (Red Spider Lily) 曼珠沙華（彼岸花）

The color and shape is so beautiful, isn't it?! This is a red spider lily (Lycoris radiata). It's still hot and humid, but certainly, autumn is approaching in Japan. 

The perception of the flower in Japan is ominous because the lilies, whose bulbs are poisonous, were planted to keep moles and other animals away from buried bodies. Burial used to be common in Japan but currently, cremation is.

彼岸花（曼珠沙華）です。今日も蒸し蒸しですが、秋は確実に近づいています。彼岸花といえば不吉なイメージがありますが、日本で昔まだ土葬が一般的だった時代にモグラなどから遺体を守るために、毒性を持つ彼岸花を墓の周りに植え始めたのが理由。英語では red spider lily（赤い蜘蛛のユリ）。イメージ全然違います。
