Netsuke "Fukurokuju" 根付「福禄寿」

英語の後に日本語が続きます。

This is a netsuke titled 'Fukurokuju' by Ryushi Komada. It's 3-4 cm tall and carved from ivory. I saw this tiny sculpture at the Tokyo National Museum last year.

Fukurokuju (福禄寿) is one of the Seven Lucky Gods in Japanese mythology; his name combines the characters for happiness (福; fuku), wealth/prosperity (禄; roku), and longevity (寿; ju). In January last year, I saw another Fukurokuju netsuke at the museum that looks just like a Jedi. 😊

東京国立博物館に展示されていた、駒田柳之作「福禄寿」です。「福禄寿」根付はこれで二つ目。最初の「福禄寿」根付はジェダイぽかったです。でもどちらもカワイイ😊
