Red & White Prunus Mume (Japanese Apricot)

Japanese follows English.

Since Japan declared the state of emergency, I haven't gone out unless for absolutely essential reasons, but that day, I needed to go to a hospital to have a regular medical checkup, and found red and white Japanese apricot trees planted side by side near the hospital. It was cold that day and I hate the checkup, but it was worthwhile. Look at the striking contrast between the red and white Japanese apricot flowers and the blue sky!!

After the checkup, I went to Kanda Myojin shrine nearby. A coffee shop at the entrance of the shrine was selling hot amazake, a traditional sweet, non-alcohol sake drink made from fermented rice, but of course I passed by the chance....

When COVID-19 is over and if you come to Japan, the Ochanomizu area where Kanda Myojin shrine and Yushima Seido precincts are is definitely a recommendation. Yushima Seido is a two-minute walk from Kanda Myojin shrine and if you come to Japan around this time (i.e., January or February), you can enjoy red and pink Japanese camellia flowers there
