Hassaku Orange Tree Flowers

Japanese follows English.

It smelled good there, like Daphne, but the Daphne season was over more than a month ago. So, I walked around and found the source. Hassaku orange flowers were in bloom, emitting a citrus aroma so strongly that I smelled it through a mask. After checking nobody was around me, I took off the mask for the first time in more than a year outside and breathed deeply!😉

Hassaku orange flower and bud

Hoverflies love the flowers

Hassaku oranges taste more sour and bitter than other oranges, but that's why I like them. Sadly, however, if your family member has a different taste, you sometimes need to give up what you like. I haven't eaten hassaku oranges for more than ten years....😂

Israel no longer requires people to wear masks outside, which made me think about when Japanese people other than the elderly or essential workers will be able to get vaccinated. I should be happy if that happened by the end of the year.....😭
