This is magnolia grandiflora 'Exmouth' (southern magnolia) in my neighborhood, one of the cultivars of magnolia grandiflora, which I saw at Tennoji temple a few weeks ago. Magnolia Exmouth has this name because this was developed in Exmouth, Devon.

The English name was after the place where the cultivar was developed while the Japanese name "Narrow leaf magnolia grandiflora" being after the shape of leaves, which are narrower than those of non-Exmouth magnolia.

近所の細葉泰山木です。先日上野天王寺で泰山木を見たのですがその仲間です。英語名は magnolia grandiflora 'Exmouth'。 Exmouth という場所でタイサンボク（magnolia grandiflora）が品種改良されたから。対して日本名は泰山木より葉が細いから細葉泰山木。名付け方もいろいろです。
