Netsuke "A Tortoise with Hatchlings"

Japanese follows English.

The first photo is of a 3 cm ivory sculpture or netsuke in the shape of a tortoise with hatchlings on show at Tokyo National Museum. It was carved by Mitsuhiro in the 19th century. And the second photo is of a REAL tortoise I saw in the Koishikawa Botanical Garden, which was taking a walk😜 in the garden.

A REAL tortoise in Koishikawa Botanical Garden

The hatchlings are cute!

The (real) tortoise was walking or running under the sunshine pretty fast for a tortoise😊 The garden is in Central Tokyo, 161,588 square meters with various plants, including beautiful flowers and gigantic trees.

You can go to Tokyo National Museum and Koishikawa Botanical Garden on the same day. It's just about 3 km between the two. Neither has many visitors considering their areas. They are definitely worthwhile to visit!
