Taiwan cherry (Prunus campanulata) is native to Japan, Taiwan, southern and eastern China, and Vietnam, blooming from January (in Okinawa; the southernmost and westernmost prefecture) to March (the mainland) in Japan. The blossoms are pink but much deeper than other cherry blossoms and are bell shaped, which is also different from others.

寒緋桜です。台湾と中国南部の原産ですが、今は日本全国で見られます。咲き始めは沖縄では1月、本土では3月ぐらいなので、沖縄で桜と言うと寒緋桜を意味することも多いそうです。濃いピンクの花の色や釣鐘型の花は他の桜とかなり違いますが、印象に残る美しさです。
