Kenilworth Ivy (Cymbalaria Muralis) ツタバウンラン（蔦葉海蘭）

I thought "Oh, it's you again!" and then felt terrible about myself, being aware that I was venting my frustration at these innocent kenilworth ivy flowers (Cymbalaria muralis). But there's a reason. I was looking for henbit deadnettle, one of my favorite flowers, all along this morning because I'd seen someone's post about it last night. So, I thought perhaps I might be able to see bright pink henbit deadnettle flowers this morning but instead only this hardy kenilworth ivy. I feel very sorry about this and so have posted these photos.

Cymbalaria Muralis (Kenilworth Ivy) 蔦葉海蘭（ツタバウンラン）

These are flowers of Cymbalaria muralis or more commonly ivy-leaved toadflax or Kenilworth ivy. They usually flower from May to September, but according to one Japanese website, the plant flowers twice a year. It first flowers from April to June, then the part above the ground dies during summer, but it starts to sprout again from October to November, producing such beautiful flowers!   

I saw white ivy-leaved toadflax in September. It might be too hot for the toadflax to produce purple flowers.

These are flowers of Cymbalaria muralis or more commonly ivy-leaved toadflax or Kenilworth ivy. They're usually pale purple, but occasionally white like these.

They're Cymbalaria muralis or more commonly ivy-leaved toadflax or Kenilworth ivy. I've focused too much on cherry blossoms for the last week, so when seeing these pale purple flowers on the ground, I felt a little guilty... 

I love this plant because of not only the color and shape of the flower but its hardiness that enables it to grow in not necessarily perfect places, like in rock crevices (2nd photo).

This is cymbalaria muralis, with a common name ivy-leaved toadflax. It was the second ivy-leaved toadflax after the purple one I saw in April in my neighborhood.

These 1 cm long flowers are cymbalaria muralis or more commonly ivy-leaved toadflax, Kenilworth ivy, coliseum ivy, Oxford ivy, mother of thousands, pennywort, or wandering sailor. Wow, too many names for such tiny flowers!
