Blue Passionflower (Passiflora Caerulea)

They're blue passionflowers (Passiflora caerulea), but don't you think there's something wrong with them? You do? Yes, their clock hands-like pistils are all closed and don't tell the time! (Their Japanese name is "clock plant.") I noticed it when, as always, I was seeing them wondering what time these clock-like flowers said. I googled and learned that blue passionflowers open in the morning. Their purple brown pistils or clock hands🕙 are still asleep😪!

I thought someone had said "It's eight five and seventeen seconds." These are blue passionflowers (Passiflora caerulea) and their Japanese name is "clock plant" after the appearance.

The plant is supposed to flower in April and May, but it still has several flowers. They're blue passionflowers (Passiflora caerulea). Their Japanese name is "clock plant" after the appearance, which resembles a clock.

These are Passiflora caerulea or blue passionflowers. These clock-like flowers always intrigue me⌚!

Passiflora caerulea - it's ten past ten!

Tick tock, tick tock.... It's 10:15:40 a.m... It looks like a clock🕙, isn't it? This is Passiflora caerulea or more commonly bluecrown passionflower. I've wanted to see the flower closely so much for the last couple of years because the plant in my neighborhood has grown up to several meters tall with all the flowers high up a tree😞. Then, I found this bluecrown passionflower, seemingly with no support (last photo), which means that I was able to take close-up shots!! The flower, especially yellow green stamens and purple stigmas, is beautiful both from the above and from the side!!

In Japan, the bluecrown passionflower is called "clock plant" because of its appearance.

This is passiflora caerulea or blue passionflower. Last year I was about to believe that the flower was a gingko flower because of the reason you can see in the second to fourth photos....

Ginkgo or Passion Flower - That's the Question

What's this? A ginkgo flower? To me, it looks like a passiflora caerulea or common passion flower...

It's among ginkgo leaves

The only flower.... 。。

Ginkgo tree and fruit

I couldn't first believe my eyes. It was like a passion flower or "clock flower" in Japanese. I googled to find out what this flower was, but only found that ginkgo flowers, male or female, did not look like this at all.

Ginkgo always reminds me of a former coworker, an American very popular among women. On that day, we came back to the office from a client, finding ginkgo trees with leaves turned into beautiful golden yellow but with no nuts and therefore which didn't stink. This means that all these trees were male. When I said that, he was so amazed, so I went on to ask, "Would you be sad if you had no women around you?" I knew that he thought he was attractive, and I do not like such men.....😁

Raw ginkgo nuts stink, but are delicious once roasted and of course go well with beer, highball, wine and sake😆 Autumn has come with many seasonal foods!!
