Gaillardia Pulchella (Indian Blanket) is Kamikaze Flower 天人菊（ガイラルディア）は「特攻花」

It took more than a month to find out what this flower is. This is Gaillardia pulchella, Indian blanket or sundance.

I usually let it go if I can't find answers in a week, but as for this flower, the combination of yellow and red is so pretty that I couldn't give up. And I identified the flower finally yesterday!

The flower is called Tokkobana in Japan. This means "kamikaze attack flower" because kamikaze pilots in the Kagoshima prefecture were given these flowers before taking off (that is, dying). 

The counting of votes in the US presidential election is still going on and the prime minister of Japan will be elected and designated next year. No matter who will be the leader of each country, I just hope that everyone has voted or will vote for a candidate who will endeavor to avoid war.

天人菊（テンニンギク）です。ガイラルディア、サンダンスとも言うそうです。出会ったのは１カ月ほど前なのですが、名前が分からず、昨日やっとネットで発見！とっても嬉しかったのですが、別名を見てショックを受けました。

「特攻花」とも言うそうです。第二次世界大戦中に特攻隊員が喜界島から出撃する前に島の女性からテンニンギクの花束をもらったからだそうです。米国で大統領選が行われ、日本でも来年自民党総裁選が行われます。誰が大統領・首相になるにせよ、二度と戦争を起こさないように努力する人を選びたいものです。
