Yellow Spotted Stink Bug キマダラカメムシ（黄斑亀虫）

On 12 June, I found a circle the size of a quarter dollar coin on a leaf of Chinese tallow (3rd photo). Then, five days later (i.e., on 17 June), they'd become like in the 2nd photo and for the last day since then, they have changed like in the 1st photo! Every bug is small but you can clearly see each is a yellow spotted stink bug. They've changed not only their appearance but also have started to move. The one in the upper right of the 1st photo was running toward the backside of the leaf. They may not be there tomorrow, which makes me feel a bit sad and relieved a lot.   

P.S.
On 19 June, I went there again to check up on them, finding them like in the 1st photo. All larvae are all gone but two on the eggs in the 1st photo and one each in the 2nd and 3rd photos.

Hiding Your Head But Not Your Butt 頭隠して尻隠さず

This is a real life embodiment of the Japanese saying 頭隠して尻隠さず or "Hiding your head but not your butt." The saying figuratively means that there is no perfect cover-up and, just to be sure, the stink bug was not doing anything wrong.

Two Types of Stink Bugs - Green Stink Bug and Yellow-Spotted Stink Bug チャバネアオカメムシ＆キマダラカメムシ

The stink bug season has come😅! I found these two bugs this morning, i.e., a green stink bug (Plautia crossota) and a yellow-spotted stink bug (Erthesina fullo). The green bug (by a one yen coin) started running when I started to photograph it, which was so adorable!! Ten minutes later, I found the yellow-spotted stink bug on a leaf of the Chinese tallow (Triadica sebifera). I know stink bugs are stink and harmful to some plants, but still, stink bugs, especially the small green one, are so adorable!

Eysarcoris Annamita 紫白星亀虫（ムラサキシラホシカメムシ）

This is Eysarcoris annamita, a type of stink bug, in a fruit of Asiatic dayflower. I was taking photos of the flower at first, then noticed something glossy black (see the last photo) in a fruit under the flower (3rd photo). The bug was asleep but woke up (or woken up by me). 

It's adorable (because it's small) and has a pretty good Japanese name "purple stink bug with white stars," but still stinks terribly according to the internet...😂

Erthesina Fullo (Yellow-Spotted Stink Bug) 黄斑亀虫（キマダラカメムシ）

This is Erthesina fullo or more commonly the yellow-spotted stink bug or yellow marmorated stink bug on a leaf of the woodland elaeocarpus. I found an ant on another leaf above the bug (see the 2nd photo) and thought that the ant would be eaten or attacked, but don't worry! The yellow-spotted stink bug is phytophagous (i.e., herbivore). 

The bugs are beautiful (especially the striped legs!), but stink as the name suggests and a pest of many plants including fruits, such as oranges, apples, cherries, pears, and kiwifruit.

I take a walk every morning and check several places where hydrangeas are growing. And I noticed something on a lacecap hydrangea. Do you see it? A dark brown bug on it! I always respect someone never giving up, hanging in there, so why not this tiny 1 cm pentatomoidea I found while walking early morning?   

In Japanese, pentatomoidea or more commonly stink bug is called "tortoise bug" for its similar body shape to tortoise's, but more known for its terrible smell, meaning this bug is recognized globally as being "stinky"😂 Someone or something is cute as long as you social distance.
