Impatiens hawkmoths or white-banded hunter hawkmoths (Theretra oldenlandia) can be found across Japan. Their caterpillars are beautifully black with a stark contrast with orange spots at first and turn brownish before burrowing into the ground and pupating. The adults are cool, looking like fighter aircrafts, and can be found from May to October in Japan.

セスジスズメ（背筋雀）です。日本全土に生息し、成虫は5月から10月に見られます。芋虫は最初は真っ黒にオレンジの斑点なのですが、蛹になる前には茶色になるようです。幼虫は「のそのそ」かわいく、成虫（蛾）は戦闘機みたいでなかなかかっこいいです。
