Weigela coraeensis is native to, and can be found across, Japan. The plant produces flowers from May to July. The flowers change from white to pale pink, then to reddish purple, which is why the weigela means "fickleness" in the Japanese floriography.

Weigela Florida 大紅空木
英語の後に日本語が続きます。
Weigela florida is native to China and Korea but can be found in Japan. The plant produces flowers in late spring as weigela coraeensis does. The two weigelas resemble each other and both change the flower color but there is a clear difference. Weigela florida changes from deep pink to white while weigela coraeensis from white to reddish purple. Some weigela florida have variegated leaves.
