They did not take care of their parents, but evicted their sisters who had taken care of their parents for a long
time from the old houses when their mothers died by saying that the money
should be equally divided between the heirs and therefore the house should be
sold.
They say that money does not matter, but
their action suggests otherwise.
For Keiko’s parents, everything is free
when they are recipients, while nothing is free when they are providers.
Keiko was released from this distorted controlling
relationship when realizing for the first time in her life that she had to sever such relation to protect her. However, at the same time, she started to wonder that this might be the
root cause of the current nursing related issues in Japan. Why do so many people quit
their jobs to take care of their parents, even though they have no money to
support themselves?
Keiko has no intention to look after her parents
with her own money.
Some say that money does not matter, but
this mustn't be believed at face value. Money matters, in particular, when you
are a giver and the taker is your family member.
