I bought these wagashi sweets in Shiose Sohonke, one of the oldest Japanese confectionery manufacturers. It dates back to 1349 when Join Rin, its founder and a disciple of a zen priest, came to Japan from China. Rin invented Japanese sweet buns, i.e., manju, and his descendants now sell their various types. The five of these in the upper picture all represent the month of June. Their names are:

Rin is enshrined at Rin Jinja shrine in the Nara city, to which I go every year. The shrine is also known as the sacred place for Japanese sweet buns (manju).
Dianthus, Hydrangea and Clear water flowing contain red bean paste while the other two white bean paste. Also, Clear water flowing and Young sweetfish cover the bean paste with agar (kanten) or rice cake (gyuhi) respectively while the other three covering the bean paste with beautifully colored another type of bean paste called neri kiri. Their tastes, textures and flavors are all different!

塩瀬総本家で6月の上生菓子を買いました。全部で5個。白桃、撫子、紫陽花、清流、若鮎です。
みんな同じかと思いきや、中が餡子か白餡か、外が練り切り餡か寒天か求肥かで、微妙に違います。若鮎の求肥のもちもち感がとっても好きでした。

みんな同じかと思いきや、中が餡子か白餡か、外が練り切り餡か寒天か求肥かで、微妙に違います。若鮎の求肥のもちもち感がとっても好きでした。
季節ごとの和菓子はとても綺麗ですよね。果物や植物をモチーフにした物も美しいですが、特に水の表現には目も心も奪われます。
返信削除けいさんの英文、きっと多くの人に伝わるよう配慮されてるのでしょう。難しい単語や文章もなく、『簡単な読み書きならとりあえずどうにか』（会話をするのは全く無理ですが…）レベルのド素人の私にもス〜と入ってきます。
わからない時は下の和訳を読んでますが(^_^;)
それと、もちろん金融系の話は即、和訳へ直行ですが(^_^;)
rieoさん、いつもコメントありがとうございます。和菓子って本当にきれいですよね。昔はお菓子よりお肉！という感じでしたが、今はその美しさを理解できるようになりました（苦笑）。英文についてもコメントありがとうございます。日本人なのだから日本語だけでもいいのでは、と自問自答する時もあるのですが、なぜか日英両方で書いた方が落ち着きます。英語で書くと日本語で書いているときには見えなかったものが見えてくるのです。和菓子のことを英語で書いているときも、自分がいかに和菓子について理解していないかを思い知らされました。rieoさんの美しい植物（葉っぱやお空もきれいです！）のインスタもいつも拝見させていただいております。今後ともどうぞよろしくお願いいたします（m(_ _"m)）。
