Callicarpa Dichotoma (Early Amethyst) 小紫（コムラサキ）

This is a shrub of Callicarpa dichotoma or more commonly purple beautyberry or early amethyst with beautiful bright purple berries.

There are at least two shrubs of purple beautyberry in my neighborhood. Both are beautiful but they're clearly different in size and vitality because one of them has been there for more than twenty years while the other one was planted a few years ago. Sadly, however, the older bigger one (in these photos) will be gone soon because of the redevelopment of the area. New high rise condos will be built and beautiful trees and flowers planted, but such natural and wild beauty nurtured over a long period of time can't be replaced in one day.

小紫（コムラサキ）です。紫の実がとってもきれいです。近所には少なくとも2か所、小紫が植えられています。一つは何十年もの、もう一つは数年前に植えられたものです。サイズと生命力の差は歴然。ただ悲しいことに年季の入った大きい方（写真）は再開発のためにもうじき抜かれてしまいます。新しいマンションかビルが建てば新しい木や花が植えられるとは思いますが、長い年月をかけて育まれた自然かつワイルドな美とは全く異質のものになるでしょう。
