These are buds of Oriental paperbush (Edgeworthia chrysantha). It was a bit early to see the full blooms, but I found a bud that has started to bloom, showing yellow sepals (not petals!; 3rd photo).

As suggested by the name, Oriental paperbush is used in Japan to make bank notes and depreciates over a useful life of five years under corporate tax law!

三椏（ミツマタ）です。花にはまだ早かったのですが、一つだけ咲き始めの蕾を見つけました。黄色の花弁に見えるのは萼片の内側です。ミツマタは和紙の原料。法人税法上の減価償却資産で耐用年数は5年です。
