Balloon, Balloon🎈!! Cardiospermum Halicacabum & Platycodon Grandiflorus 風船かずら 🎈 桔梗

These are balloon vine or love in a puff (cardiospermum halicacabum) and balloon flower or Chinese bellflower (platycodon grandiflorus). I saw them at Mukojima Hyakkaen Garden and in my neighborhood in Tokyo.

Are they about to open? そろそろ開花？

I first mistook love in a puff for physalis alkekengi (i.e., bladder cherry, Chinese lantern, Japanese lantern, strawberry groundcherry, or winter cherry), but I googled and found a way to distinguish them, i.e., their shapes are different. Love in a puff is round while winter cherry a round inverse triangle. 

But I'm not writing to tell you about their differences. They are all balloons and comforting, compensating for my loss.... My husband was diagnosed to have a metabolic syndrome one year ago, but by giving up a die-hard habit of eating potato chips and ice cream after dinner every day, he made it, slimming down his tummy!! He's no longer a fatso (though a little overweight)! Wonderful! I'm happy for him! But at the same time, I miss his chubby TUMMY, too!!!😭

向島百花園の風船かずらと近所の桔梗です。紫と白の桔梗は見たことありましたが、ピンクは初めて。開花が楽しみです😄

最初、風船かずらをほおずきと間違えましたが、ググったら分かりました！ 風船かずらはまるく、ほおずきはちょっと逆三角形っぽいです。

風船かずらも桔梗の蕾もまるい。だから喪失感を埋めてくれます｡｡｡ うちの旦那さん、１年前にメタボと診断され、以来夕食後（毎日！）食べていたポテチとアイスクリームをきっぱりやめ、今年めでたくメタボ卒業🎊 でもあの「まんまる🧡」おなか、とってもかわいかったんです！寂しいよ～😭！
