White and Pink Camellia Sasanqua 白とピンクの山茶花

Flowers tell us a change in season, and these white and pink Camellia sasanqua told me that autumn would soon be over...

Pink Camellia sasanqua ピンクの山茶花

Almost in full bloom ほぼ満開

Camellia sasanqua (in the above photos) and Camellia japonica are similar but different species. Sasanqua flowers are generally smaller than japonica ones and among other things, the way that the flower falls off is different. As for sasanqua, petals fall off flowers while japonica flowers just drop off whole.

The thing is I didn't know such differences and when seeing either flower, I always assumed it was Camellia japonica....

White sasanqua symbolizes in Japan, "You will reject my love." Don't ever think of giving this flower to your Japanese girlfriend or boyfriend...

花で季節が分かります。今回は山茶花で秋の終わりを感じることができました。そして山茶花と椿の違いも知ることができました。

白い山茶花の花言葉は「あなたは私の愛を退ける」。贈り物には向かないようです。。。
