Hydrangea Paniculata (Panicled Hydrangea)

Japanese follows English.

The rainy season has come in Japan, meaning the hydrangea season, too. This is hydrangea paniculata or commonly panicled hydrangea. It looks like oakleaf hydrangea, but the color is slightly different, i.e., panicled hydrangea is creamy white while oakleaf hydrangea is greenish white.

Panicled hydrangea

What troubles me most is that the plant isn't called hydrangea but "Glue weigela" in Japanese because the tree sap was used to make glue to make paper, which makes sense, but the reason for the "weigela" part that the panicled hydrangea flowers are white like weigela in the beginning before changing to deep pink, isn't convincing at all...

You can see the flowers near the Imperial Palace of Japan.
