These are Japanese camellia (Camellia japonica). We often see red, white or pink camellia, but not variegated ones. Many camellia trees grow in my neighborhood and most of them are now in full bloom beautifully, but they're not much appreciated as cherry blossoms. I felt a little sorry for the camellia.
