Rosemary - Remember Fukushima! ローズマリー -「福島」を忘れない！

Rosemary has been the symbol of remembrance, love, and death, which made me think about the importance of "remembrance."

I'm writing this post on February 14, i.e., the day after a pretty big aftershock of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 occurred. As of now (6 p.m. on February 14), neither deaths nor tsunami due to the earthquake has been reported, which was good, but therefore the quake will be forgotten soon. Japan has already too many things to consider, such as COVID-19 and choosing the next head of Tokyo Olympic organizing committee, but there's something Japanese people shouldn't forget, i.e., Fukushima. Because of the earthquake, radioactive water leaked from the spent nuclear fuel pools of No.4 and No.5 reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant. Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), the operator of the plant, said that no leak has been found outside the premises and therefore no effects outside either, but can we trust this?

 

Nearly ten years have passed since the March 11 earthquake, but still contaminated water can leak (or has been leaking?), making me wonder if Japan can really have the Olympic games in five months. Forgetting sometimes helps us overcome difficulties, but don't ever forget Fukushima. Japan should remember what happened and has been happening to and in Fukushima.

ローズマリーです。ちっちゃい花が可愛いですね。ローズマリーの花言葉、ご存じですか。記憶、愛、死です。そこで「記憶」について考えました。

今日は2月14日。昨晩、福島沖で東日本大震災の余震がありました。幸い、今のところ亡くなった方は報告されず、津波もありません。この地震はすぐに忘れられてしまうでしょう。でも、福島第1原発5、6号機の使用済み核燃料プールから汚染水があふれ出たことはご存じですか。東電は建屋外への流出は確認されておらず、外部への影響はないと言ってますが本当なのでしょうか。

コロナ、森さんの後任選びなど、今日本には考えるべきことがたくさんあります。でも東日本大震災から10年経つのにまだ汚染水が漏れている。こんなことでオリンピックを無事に開催できるんでしょうか？福島のことを日本人は決して忘れてはいけないのです。
