I was surprised by the size of the pale pink flower first, then that this is a hibiscus moscheutos or rose mallow. I had thought that hibiscus was red, 7-8cm in diameter, but this one is pink and it's at least two times larger than I thought, about 20cm.

A few days later when I saw the flower below, however, a question came up: What is it? It looks like hibiscus moscheutos, the same one as the above, but it's a tree flower measuring only 5-8 cm in diameter. The size and shape of its leaves are also different.... I googled and learned that it's hibiscus syriacus or Korean rose...

To make matters more complicated, in Japan, only tropical hibiscus is "hibiscus" and these two hibiscuses are called other names ("American fuyou" and "mukuge").....
But no matter what they are called, these pretty pale pink hibiscuses, small and large, both made me happy and surely ants, too!
