White Prunus Mume (Japanese Apricot) 白梅

Japanese follows English.

This is prunus mume or more commonly Japanese apricot in my neighborhood. I found several trees, but only this tree was in bloom. I don't know why....

Prunus mume 白梅

Japanese apricot

Only this tree was in bloom 。。

I saw Japanese apricot pink flowers early this month at Ueno Peony Garden. The pink ones are "gorgeous" while these white apricot flowers are "noble," aren't they?😊

Japanese apricot and cherry are "kigo" or season words for spring used in haiku, a form of short poetry in Japan. Kigo consists of only 17 syllables and these two kigo season words are often used to describe the longing for spring.

These Japanese apricot white flowers made me realize that I'm longing for not only spring but also something good, like bright news about COVID-19 vaccines more than ever....
