This is prunus speciosa or Oshima cherry, the third type of cherry I've found this year in my neighborhood following Taiwan cherry (prunus campanulata) and Yoko cherry (prunus campanulata 'Yoko').

Japan has about 100 types of cherry trees, including the following wild varieties:
- Yoshino cherry (prunus x yedoensis) - THE cherry in Japan
- Edohigan cherry (cerasus itosakura)
- Fuji cherry (prunus incisa)
- Mountain cherry (cerasus jamasakura)
- North Japanese hill cherry or Sargent's cherry (prunus sargentii)
- Taiwan cherry, Formosan cherry or bellflower cherry (prunus campanulata)
- Oshima cherry (prunus speciosa) - the one in this post!
- Kawazu cherry (cerasus x kanzakura)

近所の大島桜です。寒緋桜（カンヒザクラ）と陽光桜（ヨウコウザクラ）に続いて3つ目の桜。近所にこんなにいろいろな桜があったなんて！ちなみに日本には以下を含めて100種ほどの桜があるそうです。
- ソメイヨシノ（染井吉野）
- エドヒガンザクラ（江戸彼岸桜）
- マメザクラ（豆桜）
- ヤマザクラ（山桜）
- オオヤマザクラ（大山桜）
- カンヒザクラ（寒緋桜）
- オオシマザクラ（大島桜）- 上の写真
- カワヅザクラ（河津桜）
