This is prunus tomentosa or more commonly Nanking cherry.

I've passed by the trees almost every day, but didn't notice them at all. The slightly pinkish white flowers are so pure and pretty! The English name says it's cherry, but its Japanese name means it's peach (in Chinese characters) and plum (in hiragana/katakana characters), so confusing!
Nanking cherry fruits in the rainy season, and the red or white fruits can be used for jam, juice and wine! I wanna try them but cannot. The trees are in a public park...
Japan does not categorize Nanking cherry as cherry, but I consider it a cherry tree (as its English name says it's cherry), and have listed below a variety of the cherry blossoms I've enjoyed this year🌸 Which one do you like most?
- Yoshino cherry (prunus x yedoensis) - Just started blooming. To be posted soon.
- Taiwan cherry, Formosan cherry or bellflower cherry (prunus campanulata)
- Oshima cherry (prunus speciosa)
- Yoko cherry (prunus campanulata 'Yoko')
- Winter (October) cherry (cerasus subhirtella (miq.))

近所の英梅（ユスラウメ）です。いつも通っている道に咲いていたのに見逃していました。ほんのりピンクの白が清冽です。梅雨時には実が生るそうで、ジャムやワインにできるとか！試した～い（でも無理か｡｡｡）
梅だけど英語では「Nanking cherry」🌸 紛らわしいです！でも紛らわらしさに乗じて、下に今年の桜コレクションを記載しました。
