Netsuke "A Tortoise with Hatchlings" 親子亀牙彫根付

英語の後に日本語が続きます。

The first photo is of a 3 cm ivory netsuke (sculpture) in the shape of a tortoise with hatchlings, on display at the Tokyo National Museum. It was carved by Mitsuhiro in the 19th century. The second photo is of a real tortoise I saw taking a walk 😜 in the Koishikawa Botanical Garden.

The tortoise was walking—or running, pretty fast for a tortoise—under the sunshine 😊. The garden is in Central Tokyo, spanning 161,588 square meters with various plants, beautiful flowers, and gigantic trees.

You can easily visit the Tokyo National Museum and the Koishikawa Botanical Garden on the same day, as they are only about 3 km apart. Neither feels overcrowded given their large size, and both are definitely worth a visit!

東京国立博物館の「親子亀牙彫根付（光広作）」です。象牙製で19世紀の作品。3センチぐらいで親亀の上に子亀が乗っているとってもかわいい根付です。で、2枚目は小石川植物園で見た本物の亀。なんか「わさわさ」走ってました😊

東京国立博物館と小石川植物園、歩けます。どちらも人が少なく、お勧めの場所です。
