Galls on Cherry Leaves😱

Japanese follows English.

Do you find them beautiful or gross?

When seeing them for the first time last year I thought they were caterpillars and then this April, I learned that they were Tuberocephalus tsengi or galls😱!!! But that was not it because the galls I saw this April were still green and kind of cute (even though hey were shaped like caterpillars). So yesterday, I was surprised to see them, which from a distance looked like some kind of red flowers but when looked closely were more like armies of red and green caterpillars or even bowels😱!! Don't forget that these galls contain aphids, so don't even think about looking inside😱!

The tree used to produce very beautiful blossoms every spring before being cut down for the redevelopment of the area.
