Mulberry (Morus) is native to China and Korea, coming to Japan in at the latest 12 century. The tree produces flowers in April and fruits from May to June, which are first green, turning to yellow, red and then deep purple. Mulberries are eaten raw or processed into jam and alcoholic drinks, which I've never tried.
The fact the trees now have berries means that they had flowers in April but I missed them. In general, mulberries are dioecious, which means they have male and female flowers. Now I know where they are, I already look forward to seeing both male and female flowers next spring.

クワ（山）です。4月に花を、5月から6月には実を付けます。果実は最初は緑ですが、熟すと黄から赤、黒紫へと色を変えます。生でもジャムでもおいしい桑の実ですが残念ながらまだ試せていません。
今、実を付けているということは春には花が咲いていたはず。見逃してしまったようです。クワは基本、雌雄異株なので雄花と雌花を付けます。来年が今から楽しみです。
