I couldn't believe my eyes😲! Do you know that there are yellowish green cherry blossoms? I saw them! In my neighborhood! They are cerasus sato-zakura group 'Gioiko' Koidz or Gioiko cherry.

The name "Gioiko" cherry is after the yellow color of Japanese nobility clothing, and the biggest feature is, as shown in that name, its yellow, greenish yellow and green blossoms due to carotenoid (i.e., yellow pigment) and chlorophyll (i.e., green pigment) in the petals. The core of the flowers turn red before they fall, which creates a beautiful color contrast between yellow, green and red. The flowers are multi-petalled but their beauty is different from pink blossoms, i.e., freshly gorgeous!!

え～😲！黄色い桜ってあったんですか！全く知りませんでした。御衣黄です。名前の由来は色が貴族の衣服の色に似てるからだそう。
花弁に黄色のカロテノイドと緑色のクロロフィルを含む葉緑体を持つため、黄色・黄緑・緑色系の花を咲かせます。しかも散る頃には花の中心部が赤くなって、黄、緑、赤のコントラストがきれい！八重咲きですがピンクの花とは違う趣です。
